As someone who has transported critically ill infants and children from other towns within the state of Georgia and South Carolina, and who also cares for them in our intensive care unit at the Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah, the Ronald McDonald house is an invaluable facility that serves our families when they’re away from home. Having a sick child can be stressful enough, but having a sick child being cared for in a city that is hours away from one’s home can exacerbate that level of stress. The Ronald McDonald House serves families a common ground to sleep, eat, and “live” on campus of the Willett Children’s Hospital while having the ability to interact with other families experiencing similar stress. The RMH is a “home away from home" for many families from just a few short days to several months so it’s impact is enormous. Please consider donating/voting to my “Cigar Girl” campaign and support this important charity.
